RENAISSANCE OF PERA

How to remove the history of the neighborhood of Pera and to use Istanbul as living settings ?

The history of the artistic neighborhood of Pera, in Beyoglu, shows the old dynamism coming from comedians of this area.

This project is a way to remove history and to use the Theater of History, Istanbul, as living settings.

This concept is reached by the renovation of old buildings in order to give new stages in the city. Settled on the edges of the Golden Horn, in Karaköy, this project is fronting the most beautiful landscape of Istanbul, the historical Peninsula.

The project is divided in three different programs. The biggest one is the main theater, linked with the renovated part with a welcoming place and the exposition area to promote plays and remain old ones. The second program is the café/open stage, thought as an extansion on the water and facing the historical peninsula, amators and comedians fell like part of Istanbul settings while they are playing. The last part of the program is the extansion of the edge of the Golden Horn in Karaköy from the Galata bridge until the new metro station. A continuous pedestrian walk is created, offering many uses and entertainement.
